Numskull Games announces partnership with Limited Run Games in North America
Independent video game publisher, Numskull Games has announced a brand-new exciting partnership with North American video game distributor, Limited Run Games. Numskull Games, established in 2019, are a British publishing label that has partnered with game developers and studios from across the globe. Helping bring innovative games to market, Numskull Games reaches a worldwide audience across all the major gaming platforms.
The outcome of the partnership with Limited Run Games is to provide a wider opportunity on the ever-growing extensive library of Numskull Games to the North American market. The partnership allows for the utilisation of Limited Run Games’ distribution and marketing expertise to introduce original games to a new audience, the first, being hack ‘n’ slash retro inspired, Battle Axe, complete with brand new region exclusive box art.
Martin Defries, Managing Director of Numskull Games, stated that “Having previously collaborated with Limited Run Games (LRG), I am very aware how they treat great games with care and affection to reach interested gamers.”
Defries continues “I am delighted to be able to partner again with Limited Run Games to ensure Numskull Games releases will be available in the USA. The first game release in this partnership will be Battle Axe for Nintendo Switch and PlayStation 4 set for late April 2021. In keeping with LRG’s distinctive style, we have developed unique Collectors’ Editions alongside the standard editions that are all exclusively available via Limited Run Games.”

Battle Axe is a 16-bit hack-n-slash adventure featuring stunning pixel art and tight controls that can be played in either solo or local co-op mode. Developed by Henk Nieborg; a renowned pixel artist and developer with over thirty years in game development, alongside Mike Tucker and the team at Bitmap Bureau. In the February 2021 Numskull Presents, Henk and Mike explained the gameplay and a number of the mechanics available in Battle Axe including the new Infinite mode which keeps the enemies coming thick and fast for added challenge.
Numskull Games are publishing Battle Axe with Limited Run Games distributing both the standard and collectors’ editions for the PlayStation 4 and Nintendo Switch in the US. Acknowledging that fans of Limited Run Games want something different and unique the US editions will feature brand new exclusive box art, which is available to pre-order now.
Battle Axe releases in April 2021 on all major formats.
